One too many Bones About It.

Bones' Emily Deschanel and Booth's David Boreanaz. TV Crime Dromedy. Personally, I like Castle so expect that soon.

Mac's Watercolor Painting

Ron "Mac" McMillan is a coworker of mine at a Warehouse in KC. Mac is an American Indian and does demonstrations of Indian life and is known as the Turtle Storyteller. He traded me a 25 year old beautiful, handmade flute. Pictured below. The Painting was colored with Winsor & Newton watercolors on stretched watercolor canvas and is 16x20. I think I received the better deal.

A Marvel-ous Avengers Week: Avengers Assembled!

Day 5 (and then some): All apologies for the delay in posting. This piece was completed yesterday. The original size is 12x16 in Graphite. It took me about 2 to 3 hours to get it all right. Placement was the hard part. The Hulk was drawn first (Three times. I even debated going smaller with Ruffalo). Next I drew Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and lastly Hawkeye. I will post an Airbrush color version as soon as the green paint comes in next Tuesday.   So, I saw the movie on Friday at 10:40am. I was all set to see the 12:01 showing but could not make it. I saw the 2-D version and I loved it. The previews on tv and the internet, the promotional pieces I bought like the junior novel and the trading cards gave me a taste but the movie wowed me and won me over. I love it when you don't see all the movie in the previews. They did an awesome job with the Hulk. And I hope Ruffalo gets his own movie. At this point I am making plans to see the 3-D version, probably tomorrow. Although, I am glad I saw the 2-D version first as action is hard to see in 3-D(maybe that's just me). Personally, I hope it beats Johny and Tim's "Dark Shadows" this Friday for the #1 spot. We'll see. Avengers Assemble!! PS Stay for the credits and the very end of the credits of Marvel"s The Avengers for a real treat.

A Marvel-ous Avengers Week: Captain America

Day 4 of the Marvel-ous Week: Steve Rogers aka Captain America (as played by surprisingly convincing Chris Evans). So tomorrow, is the Group Caricature with two guests not previously pictured. Any fan will know who I am talking about. Unfortunately, I am not able to make it to the 12:01 showing tonight. I am actually running on empty right now and it's hard to keep my eyes open. Oh yeah a little trivia for the followers each day I have been drawing the individual Avengers I have been watching the movies to which they belong in preparation for seeing the upcoming movie. I am seeing it tomorrow the first showing. A Shout-Out to all those who are going to the movie tonight. I salute you! Avengers Assemble!!!

A Marvel-ous Avengers Week: THOR

Day Three of the Marvel-ous Week: THOR of Asgard ( as played convincingly by Chris Hemsworth). So I've decided that the sketches will be uploaded the day after on Saturday. On DVDs you never get the special features til after the movie comes out right. It has been a thrill to work on these pictures and I had thought of doing one pose then using that for the Big Picture on Friday but that's kind of cheating isn't it. So they will all be tweaked and also done in Graphite and Airbrush just like down at the park where I used to work. Good old Six Flags St. Louis. Shout out. Holla! Holla!
Anyway, God of Thunder (or Rock). Laying the Hammer Down Mightily. The Mighty Thor!

A Marvel-ous Avengers Week: Hulk

Day 2 of the Marvel-ous Week: Bruce Banner aka the Incredible Hulk (this time by played by newcomer to Superheroes Mark Ruffalo).  I think Ruffalo will do a great job, though I have only scene him in rom-coms like Just Like Heaven and 13 Going on 30.  I like hearing that they looked at Bixby's portrayal from the TV series. I have a soft spot for the Hulk. He is my favorite Comic book Character.  Ed Norton is definitely missing the fun.  His and Louie's movie was awesome though. Hopefully Mark will get his own movie.HULK SMASH BOX OFFICE!!!.

A Marvel-ous Avengers Week: Ironman

Tony Stark aka IRONMAN (as played excellently by Robert Downey Jr.). And so begins a Marvel-ous week for Avengers. Each day leading up to the Marvel Avengers Movie will feature a different character from the movie culminating in a 6 Person Group Caricature! There will be quick sketches and behind the scenes art from the making of the big Picture. I'll post the final May 4th. I plan on seeing the movie at 12:01am May 4th. I even took vacation days to be off work to see the first showing. Yes, consider me a Fanboy!(A trivial note: followers may remember I did the same thing leading up to a "Weird Al" concert a few years back.)

On the Drawing Table: April 17th

This color drawing was commissioned ahead of time and drawn in Studio 6F. It was presented to Mr. Brouse at the Jackson County Family Week Dinner on April 17th, 2012 to which he has been and enduring supporter. At the event, I also drew Caricatures from 5:30 to 8:30pm on location. Everyone was very pleased with their pictures. Props go out to Sara, a courageous talented teen who drew caricatures with me. It was her first time in the chair. I hope she continues to pursue her art. Above is the Black and White Version before colors. I use a 4b lead and a fat blending stump.
Here, Skin Color and hair has been added with airbrush. I use an Iawata Eclipse from my Six Flags days. This just goes to show how caring for your tools can yield continued use. The last picture I used airbrush on was for Dick Wilson's picture last year commissioned for the same event.
Finally, the finished version color complete. Diane Mack, my contact, at the event said they really liked it and his wife liked it so much she was going to hang it up in the house. Size 12 x16. Graphite & Airbrush.

Safety "joes"

Safety joe #1.
Safety joe #2.

Safety joe #3.
All "joes" were done to get to #3 which they were happier with. It currently revolves on a monitor in the break room where I work. Props to R.R for the opportunity.
