BOBBY'S PLACE 5/28: BOBBY Knight

BOBBY Knight. 11x14 graphite and airbrush. The research that goes into these caricatures also went in to the props I set the characters up with. They weren't asked for by the patron, but I think it adds something to the final outcome. Case in point: Mr. Knight has a Boilermaker in front of him. The mascot of Purdue not IU. An homage to my father who went to Purdue and it highlights the temprament of BOBBY Knight.

BOBBY'S PLACE 4/28: BOBBY Kennedy

BOBBY Kennedy. 11x14 graphite and airbrush. The caricature was finished and I was thinking about the background when I realized it was only 10 inches across so the white band was added later to bring it to 11 inches. And so the background became alternating colors of red, white, and blue--one inch stripes.

BOBBY'S PLACE : The Painting-- Bobby Hull, Plager, and Orr

The BOBBY'S PLACE Project began in September of 2008. This was a gig given by Tom Maurer part owner who envisioned about 20 to 30 Caricatures and a Painting for a new bar called BOBBY'S PLACE. The Caricatures would depict different famous people named BOBBY. In all 28 Caricatures and one Painting 2'x4' were completed for BOBBY'S PLACE.

The Bar and Grill opened on January 2, 2009. Location: 141 and 44 at Meremac Valley Plaza. The painting is just inside the door on your right. The 28 Caricatures are displayed on the right hand side of the bar.
